When we go on a trip abroad, we tend to want to bring back everyday products in our suitcases, but at much better prices! thus, cigarettes, alcohol and other digital goods can be purchased abroad but beware of the taxes you will have to pay on your return because customs officials could force you to pay VAT in France on these products as well as customs duties.
There are deductibles below which the State considers that you are bringing these products for your personal consumption, beyond which you are subject to the same taxes as a professional merchant.
These thresholds apply per person so if you are traveling with several people, you cannot claim to be able to combine the thresholds of the whole family, just as the thresholds are different depending on whether you are an adult or a minor under the age of 15 or even you were traveling within or outside the European Union.
