Directive No. 2012\/18\/EU of July 4, 2012<\/span><\/h2>\n

Directive\u00a0<\/span>2012\/18\/EU of July 4, 2012<\/span><\/a>\u00a0concerning the control of major accident hazards involving hazardous substances has been published.\u00a0This directive replaces directive no.\u00a096\/82\/EC of 9 December 1996 known as the \u201cSeveso II directive\u201d in order to maintain and improve the level of protection of human health and the existing environment.\u00a0In addition, account had to be taken of the changes made to the classification system for substances and mixtures by Regulation EC No 1272\/2008 of 16 December 2008 on the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures.\u00a0To this end, Annex I of the Dangerous Substances Directive is amended in particular.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the new directive aims to clarify and simplify certain provisions while enhancing their effectiveness.\u00a0Consequently, the aforementioned Directive 96\/82\/EC is repealed with effect from June 1, 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n
